They Just Don’t Get Why We’re Not Voting For Trump

When Kamala Harris ran for President in 2020, I thought she was possibly the worst candidate. Prior to running, Harris was a Senator and before that, the Attorney General of California. I lived in San Diego during her time as AG and distinctly remember her being a pro-law enforcement, tough on crime lead prosecutor. Certainly not the toughest, but certainly not “progressive” and certainly not someone who showed a willingness to hold police officers accountable for their most egregious moments of physical abuse.

So when Harris “reinvented” herself as this uber progressive, liberal, black woman in the 2020 election, all I could think about is how phony she was. When she was asked questions, she never gave actual answers. Harris also always seemed like her non-answers were a product of her preference for focus testing any public facing answer before people know what she thinks. You then add that Harris’s career really took off after she dated kingmaker Willie Brown who was married but apparently estranged from his wife at the time. Brown appointed her to two different positions within the California government that helped catapult her into the mainstream and eventually to the Attorney General’s Office.

In short, she’s a political creature. But so were the Bush’s, the Clintons, obviously Biden and even Obama. Trump however is not. I’m forty-four now and I pay attention. I hate politics and I hate political candidates, but the truth is that none of those political creatures were bad Presidents for ME. Frankly, none of these Presidents really impacted my life and I think most people can honestly say the same if they’re being objective. I disagree with a lot of their decisions, especially about wars and foreign policy and all of them have made life way to easy for large corporations. But by and large, the country has been stable, my family has thrived and so I can live with a political creature as President – especially when the other choice is Trump.

Trump is so unfit for office that Harris being the most unoriginal of the creatures and the most creature of the creatures is still irrelevant. So you might try to suggest that she’s not qualified and that all of her accomplishments are owed to the color of her skin. I don’t care. I don’t care that there are clips of her saying some of the dumbest, most progressive stuff about Medicare for all and defunding the police. She won’t actually get any of those things passed because she doesn’t actually support those positions. Harris just says whatever she thinks is politically palatable in the moment. Like the Bush’s, the Clinton’s or Obama. Is that what I want? Of course not.

But I don’t want Trump at all.

There are so many reasons so I’ll just rattle off a few. Trump said he “fell in love with Kim” from North Korea, he denies he lost the 2020 election and wants to pardon the violent criminals who followed his lead. He tried to steal Georgia. He separated children from their parents at the border and couldn’t be bothered to reunite them. Trump wanted to bring the Taliban to Camp David and routinely agrees with some of the most disgusting Americans on social media such as Nic Fuentes and Laura Loomer. Trump’s handling of Covid was probably the worst reaction by a President to a crisis in modern times.

I can admit that Trump accomplished some decent things like the First Step Act and the Mission Act among others. Despite his failed family separation policy, his control of the border was far better than Biden’s. Trump’s handling of NATO was decent too and there was relative peace during his time. But none of that comes close to justifying putting that freak back in the office.

Trump is a convicted felon, nailed for fraud on the civil side on several occasions and is still facing dozens of felony charges that will surely catch up with him if he doesn’t win the election. I’ll say something here that I said back in 2016: Trump ‘s ascension to the White House tells my children that character and integrity do not matter. I am far more worried that my kids will learn that cheating and lying pays from the former President than anything they may learn from a rap song, video games or a book in the back corners of the school library. I can’t even let my kids watch him because his behavior is a completely unacceptable example for my children.

I was Never Trump from the first time Trump came down the escalator in 2016. Nothing, and I mean nothing has changed my mind in eight years.

I was right.

Vindicated.

I wish that the Democrats had chosen someone other than Harris. They did not. Who cares. Trump is Trump and he’s awful.
